The Stove Stool was presented at Milan Design Week 2023, within the Ars Metallica exhibition by Alessi.

Philippe Starck humorously explains the surprising genesis of his stool: “The starting point of the Stove chair is a very serious joke, with a sketch of a frying pan with legs and the excellent idea of adapting existing high technology for different purposes. The seat and backrest are inspired by a frying pan, the legs forming the handles. The Stove chair elegantly embodies the finest proofs of human intelligence: humor and technology. Exactly as my relationship with Alberto and Alessi.”

In its literal reference to the “frying pan,” this collection pays homage to Alessi’s identity, which has been producing the highest quality tableware and kitchen utensils for over a century. “Poêle Collection” explores the expressive potential of metalworking through Philippe Starck’s vision. The result is a family of small furniture where the metallic element gains an astonishingly fluid materiality, enveloping the wooden elements with an unexpected harmony. Wood and steel: two contrasting materials that pair perfectly for a premium effect.

Combining tradition and innovation, industry and craftsmanship, these exceptional pieces are made in Italy. They illustrate the extraordinary know-how of Alessi’s metalworkers.
