We are offering at auction an extraordinary and exclusive Kodak Duaflex (manufactured in England by Kodak Limited London), transformed into a functional collectible work of art.
The Kodak Duaflex is famous for its iconic two-merchant reflex design (TLR pseudo-flex) in black aluminum and Bakelite, extremely popular in the mid-20th century. This exemplar has undergone high-quality, handcrafted restoration and customization, conceived for those seeking a unique design object, both for display and conversation.
Details of the custom work:
Replacement of the leatherette: The old and crumbling faux leather, now deteriorated, has been entirely removed and replaced with a modern, high-quality technical material chosen to ensure longevity and impeccable color rendering.
Protective and water-repellent finish: The surface has been treated with a special transparent protective coating that is waterproof, making the body resistant to wear, scratches, and humidity, preserving vibrant colors over time.
Historical study of the decoration: The decorative pattern features elegant floral motifs with stylized peacocks and lilies, the result of a philological study of the artistic currents (Art Deco / Arts & Crafts) that defined the golden age when the Duaflex established itself in the world market.
Tailor-made craftsmanship: The coating has been cut and applied by hand with extreme precision around the original components ( film wind selector, shutter release, red window for film counting, and strap).
Item condition:
Aesthetics: excellent overall condition for its age. The aluminum and Bakelite parts show an authentic patina of the times, certifying its vintage originality.
Optics and finder: The large top-view finder is clean and bright (as shown in the photos). The taking lens and the targeting lens are intact.
