Very large and heavy hearth kettle dating from around the 19th century.
It was hung in large open fireplaces by means of a hearth hook to boil water.

Used frequently in the countryside by the working class in the so-called Flemish fireplaces.

The unique thing about this kettle is that the lid can never be lost because it is attached by a chain to the ear (see gallery).

This kettle is a true eye-catcher due to its size and the impression it gives.

Hele grote en zware haardketel te dateren omstreeks de  19de eeuw 
deze werd door middel van een  haardhaak in de grote open haarden gehangen om water te koken 

Werd veelvuldig op het platteland gebruikt door de werkende klasse in de zogenaamde vlaamse haarden 

 Het unieke aan deze kelel is dat het deksel nooit kan verloren gaan omdat deze door middel van een schakelketting  bevestigd is aan het oor  (zie gallerij)

Deze ketel is een ware eyecatcher  omwille van zijn groote en de uitstraling hiervan
