Description from the seller

François-Adolphe GRISON (1845-1914)

Hunter with dog in an autumn landscape

Elegant genre scene signed by François-Adolphe Grison, Swiss painter active in the second half of the 19th century, known for his depictions of animated landscapes and rural scenes.

The work presents a hunter seated on a rock while lighting his pipe, accompanied by his dog. The scene is immersed in an autumn landscape, characterized by bare trees and a warm palette, dominated by golds and browns that create a suggestive and luminous atmosphere.

The composition is balanced and well constructed: the hunter’s figure guides the gaze toward the landscape, while the dog introduces a narrative element typical of genre painting. The brushwork is fine and precise, consistent with the late 19th-century naturalist tradition.

Signature visible bottom right.
