AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

IN RISALTO:
• Iconic 1985 Citroën 2CV Charleston
• A lively 602 cc two-cylinder engine, well maintained
• Two-tone Bordeaux red and black livery with distinctive pinstripes
• Upholstery and fabric hood replaced with new original parts
• Recent interventions to restore the electrical system and mechanical maintenance

STORIA/PANORAMICA:
The Citroën 2CV is one of the most iconic cars in automotive history, famous worldwide for its unmistakable design, its ingenious mechanical simplicity, and its iconic long-travel suspension. Born originally as a special series in 1980, the Charleston version achieved such success that it remained on the official list until production ended. Characterized by the refined two-tone livery, the round headlights, and dedicated finishes, this 1985 example is fitted with the 602 cc engine. About 6 months ago it underwent a careful restoration affecting bodywork, mechanics, electrical system, and interiors.

CARROZZERIA/VERNICIATURA:
The bodywork and shell are in overall excellent condition thanks to a full repaint carried out about 6 months ago in the classic Bordeaux red and black bi-color combination. The sheet metal is aligned and the paint has even shine. The black canvas foldable top has been replaced with a new original component. The front and rear bumpers in gray/silver are well preserved, as are the headlights and chrome details. The underbody and chassis tubes appear visually sound and well protected.

INTERNI:
The cabin has been renewed with the installation of new original interiors. The front seats and rear bench feature the characteristic grey fabric upholstery with a quilted diamond pattern. The carpet and black floor mats are newly crafted. The single-instrument dashboard, the one-spoke steering wheel, and the interior controls reflect the factory configuration of the era and are well preserved.

MECCANICA:
Under the hood sits the classic 602 cc flat-twin engine. The car is fully functional and ready to use. About 6 months ago the car underwent mechanical maintenance and a complete restoration of the electrical system to ensure full operability. The engine bay is tidy and the undercarriage shows transmission, suspension, and exhaust components in good preserved condition.

DOCUMENTI:
Italian documents accompany the vehicle.

The car can be viewed and collected in Randazzo, Italy.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
