Important Portuguese three-door low cabinet, executed in solid brown wood, profusely carved according to the D. José taste. The front features three large panels framed by beaded moldings and decorated with symmetrical compositions of acanthus leaves, palmettes, volutes and vegetal motifs, separated by equally carved pilasters. The sides repeat the same ornamental treatment, revealing a carpentry work of particularly careful craftsmanship.

The base presents a broad, contoured and richly carved skirt, centered by a rocaille composition of acanthuses and shells, extending into four elegant cabriole-inspired curved legs. The piece retains decorative hardware in yellow metal, of historicist design, which complements the richness of the carving.

The interior is compartmentalized by shelves, lined with applied fabric. The top is wooden and features carved moulding around the perimeter. The combination of robust construction, the manual carving, the decorative language and the proportions are consistent with late 19th-century Portuguese historicist production, directly inspired by 18th-century D. José furniture.

Shows signs of use, small marks and wear compatible with age, yet maintaining good structural integrity and excellent readability of the extensive carved decoration. It has a key stuck in the lock of the left door, and the intervention of a locksmith is advisable, though it is believed to be easily resolved.
