Cindy Sherman (American, b. 1954) — Untitled, a triptych from the Head Shots series.

Three digital C-prints on Fujicolor Crystal Archive Type DPII paper, published by Avant Arte in November 2025 in a time-limited edition of 629. The three images come from the very first shoot Sherman made for her now-seminal Head Shots series, staged in the run-up to the 2000 Oscars ceremony, in which the artist plays aspiring actresses having their publicity headshots taken. The trio was shot on an expired roll of experimental Polaroid slide film and is laid out like a projector strip from an old-fashioned cinema. It had never been released before: Sherman felt these portraits were prettier than the rest of the series and kept them back. Twenty-five years later she released them from her personal archive, in support of the Museum of Cycladic Art.
