Description from the seller
Perfect gift for a loved one!
This is one of the cameras in my personal collection.
Body: Asahi Pentax Spotmatic
Introduced in the mid-1960s and defining an era, the Asahi Pentax Spotmatic stands as one of the most iconic and refined models in photographic history. Known for its durability, mechanical precision, and pioneering metering system, it quickly became a favorite among photography enthusiasts, students, and working professionals alike.
The defining feature of the Spotmatic line is its revolutionary TTL (Through-The-Lens) stop-down metering system. Using two highly sensitive CdS cells positioned to read light directly through the taking lens, it provides incredibly accurate exposures for its time. It was Asahi’s breakthrough in light measurement, setting a standard for SLR cameras that would last for decades.
Shutter: Horizontal-travel cloth focal-plane
Speeds: 1s – 1/1000s + Bulb
Metering: TTL stop-down metering with match-needle display
Exposure: Fully mechanical operation; meter powered only by battery
Lens Mount: M42 Screw Mount (Universal thread mount, compatible with a vast array of legendary vintage lenses)
Flash Sync: 1/60s via X and FP sync PC terminals
Viewfinder: Bright pentaprism with central microprism collar
Body Construction: Solid metal chassis built to endure
The Spotmatic is built like a precision instrument — beautifully balanced, reliable, and remarkably smooth to operate. The film advance is firm and well-geared, the shutter release has a satisfying, crisp mechanical sound, and the tactile feedback is unmatched.
This camera represents Asahi’s golden age: a perfect blend of engineering honesty, mechanical robustness, and practical usability.
Condition
The camera body is in excellent working condition: shutter speeds fire correctly and the advance lever is smooth. The metal body shows minimal wear for its age, retaining its classic vintage charm.
Photographed in natural light to highlight the clarity of the glass and the crisp lines of the camera body. This set has been carefully stored in my collection and remains fully usable.
I feel it's time to find her a new home with someone that can take care of her and put her to good use.
The shipping will be done by courier, with the best protective packaging, insurance, and a tracking code, as I would do for myself.
Thank you.
Happy holidays and happy treasure hunting!
