Samuel Prout (1783-1852), Attributed to - Veduta di Augusta

Samuel Prout (1783–1852) was one of the most celebrated masters of the English Watercolour School and is internationally famous for his paintings of historic architecture and European urban views.
The 'View of Augsburg', originally titled 'Augsburg', is a watercolour and period print that depicts an urban view with the Perlach Tower in the background and the monumental fountain of Augustus.
Dimensions: 33x23 cm unframed, 51x41 cm with frame.
It is probably a period lithograph hand-watercoloured.
The work, with a gilded passe-partout and original gilded frame, has been mounted by the W.M. Dibben Company, 104 Poole Road, Westbourne Bournemouth.
The original label on the back, ‘WM Dibben, 104 Poole Road, Westbourne, Bournemouth – Practical Frame Maker, Gilder & Picture Dealer’, classifies the work as a Victorian or Edwardian antique object.
