The DVD 2 is Bang & Olufsen's solution for playback with HDMI, recording, and permanent archiving of DVDs. It supports a wide range of media formats and the picture quality is among the best. The DVD 2 is compatible with the TV program guide Guide Plus+, allowing you to schedule a recording directly from the information on the TV screen. Recordings are stored on the built-in hard drive, and the built-in tuner enables simultaneous recording and playback of the same TV program. Designer David Lewis has emphasized the affinity with Bang & Olufsen's modular home cinema solutions by creating a design that aligns with the other components in the system. The front, top, and sides are made of brushed aluminum, interrupted by a groove for status information with the standby indicator on the front. Loading the DVD is done by pressing a small button on the top part of the aluminum front rail, which opens outward and downward to reveal the tray that slides quietly outward. Behind this bar are connections for additional equipment, such as a digital camera or video camera.
