Celestine comes from the Latin term ‘coelestis’ which means ‘heavenly’. It is more commonly translated as ‘sky blue’. In 1789, shortly after its discovery, the German mineralogist Abraham Gottlob Werner named this crystal, whose reflections resemble a sky bathed in light.
Its color, of great softness, has earned it the name ‘Stone of the Angels’. According to legend, it would have been born from the pure and hypnotic song of the angels. It is also associated with the constellation Pleiades, considered the spiritual cradle of humanity.
Many synonyms are linked to it, including celestite, cliftonite, dioxynite, sicilianite, or strontian sulfate.
