Henri Joseph Pauwels: Oil painting on canvas - Belgium - 1950-1960-1970
Beautiful view by the hand of the Belgian painter Henri Joseph Pauwels (1903-1983).
Pauwels is best known for his beautifully stylized, lightly impressionistic landscapes, harbor scenes, rural interiors, and floral still lifes. Signed bottom right by the master.
In a stylish, fitting frame.
Joseph Pauwels was born on December 16, 1903 in Sleidinge, Belgium. Like most artists of his generation, Pauwels received an academic training in Paris and absorbed the theories and techniques of the French Impressionists. His vivid pastel color palette and loose brushwork reflect the Impressionists’ interest in the study of light and color, and it was probably painted en plein air or outdoors on location.
He was a successful artist in the era before and after World War II. He exhibited frequently in Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam. His paintings are represented in diverse museums around the world. Pauwels passed away on March 12, 1983.
Carefully packed and shipped, but of course it can also be picked up.
