Description from the seller
Title: The Love
School: Contemporary Catalan School, 20th century
Author: Isabel Ramoneda Violan (Barcelona, 1960)
Style: Contemporary Symbolism with Secession influence and expressionist brushwork
Technique: Oil on panel
Circle and artistic influences:
Work linked to the realm of contemporary Catalan painting from the late 20th century. The predominance of gold, the allegorical conception of the image and its ornamental character clearly refer to Gustav Klimt and the Viennese Secession, reinterpreted from an intimate and expressionist sensibility. The inscription dedicated to the Austrian painter reinforces its nature as an artistic homage, without implying belonging to his historical circle.
Vertical composition of poetic and symbolic character, dominated by a broad surface in ochre and golden tones. At the top, a white open rose stands out, built with loose and tactile brushstrokes, which constitutes the main luminous and emotional focal point of the work.
The flower is accompanied by dark and earthy gestural forms, creating an intense contrast with the warmth of the background. Its isolation within the composition allows interpreting it as a symbol of love, purity, and the fragility of feelings. The inscriptions located in the lower area provide a conceptual dimension and reinforce the relation of the work with the decorative and symbolic universe of Gustav Klimt.
