Material: Yellow-veined marble (onyx or Siena marble), brass/brass, ceramic, wood, metal
Epoch/Style: Column in the Neoclassical style / Napoleonic III (late 19th / early 20th century); Ceramic bowl modern (mid/late 20th century)
Dimensions: Overall: 120 cm, bowl height: 21.5 cm, diameter: 26 cm, onyx column: 70 cm, diameter 10 cm.
Weight: 31.5 kg
A exceptional decorative object is up for auction, uniting historic craftsmanship with modern ceramic design.
The base of the piece is an elegant antique column carved from beautifully figured ocher-yellow marble. The architectural structure is refined with finely crafted, patinated fittings in brass or bronze. The capital features a classical wave-band frieze (Running Dog), while the column foot is framed by a surrounding egg-and-dart motif. The massive, tiered square plinth gives the object a secure stand.
On the upper platform of the column, a organically shaped studio ceramic bowl was later mounted as a “Mariage.” The matte ceramic captivates with a natural glaze and a stylized, relief-like cross or infinity-band in warm earth tones.

Condition:
The object is in an age-appropriate good, authentic condition with charming patina.
Marble: Very good original condition with fine natural veining and minimal signs of wear.
Metal fittings: The bronze/brass elements show a clear, age-appropriate patina. Oxidation spots and green patina are present on the underbase feet (see photos of the underside).
Assembly: The bowl is glued to the column via a square base plate. Visible adhesive and mounting residues are at the transition (see detail photo).
