Mercedes-Benz 450SL – NO RESERVE, 1976.
Description from the seller
GENERAL:
Stylish Mercedes-Benz 450 SL (R107) from 1976 with a heartwarming history. This classic was for years the "pride and joy" of the Irish Maureen from Sonoma, California. After her passing, the car lay lovingly cherished in her garage for twelve years. This is a special example: originally delivered in European specification, but upon arrival in the USA it was fully converted to the then-current American specifications (including the battery in the trunk).
With its powerful 4.5 liter V8 (200 hp) and timeless white paint, this is an icon of the R107 series, the legendary successor to the Pagode.
BODYWORK & PAINT:
Thanks to the mild climate in California, this SL is in an exceptionally dry and rust-free condition. The white paint, especially given its age, is in very good condition. The underbody is almost like new and completely dry. The car is very complete and comes with both a solid hard top and a neat soft top. The original look is enhanced by new tires with classic white walls.
TECHNICAL:
The car has recently undergone technical work after the long period of idle. The fuel system has been completely cleaned and fitted with a new pump and filters. In addition, the brake hoses, steering linkage, subframe bushings and stabilizer bars have been renewed. The car has been realigned and balanced. It runs and shifts well, though after the long rest it will need to be driven gently to loosen up. With matching numbers and a well-kept engine bay, this Mercedes offers a very solid base.
INTERIOR:
The interior is neat and exudes the atmosphere of the 1970s. The interior parts are well preserved and the dashboard is equipped with an appropriate cover. The trunk, like the rest of the car, looks very well cared for. This is a place where you’ll feel like a prince on the road from the moment you step in.
DOCUMENTS:
The Mercedes comes with the original American title (California) and all import duties and VAT have already been paid for you. The car comes with the original booklets, the maintenance history, and the onboard tools. Because of its 50-year age, a COC document is not required for registration within Europe.
PICK-UP:
The car is currently located in Damwoude, the Netherlands, where it can be viewed. Transport across Europe can be arranged upon request.
OTHER INFORMATION:
This is an honest, rust-free and original R107 with a beautiful V8. Although the car runs well, it is not yet road-registered for public roads. It is the ideal opportunity for an enthusiast to take a classic SL with a unique history to the next level of perfection.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
