Silver 5 Mark coin issued to commemorate the bicentennial of the proclamation of the Kingdom of Prussia (1701-1901), minted at the Berlin mint, identified by the letter “A.” The obverse features the superimposed busts of Frederick I and Wilhelm II facing left, a highly symbolic composition that links the founder of the kingdom with the reigning monarch. The portrait of Wilhelm II appears with a Prussian-style helmet, while Frederick I wears a Baroque wig, creating a striking artistic contrast between the two eras. The reverse shows the crowned German imperial eagle, with central shield and rich heraldic ornamentation, executed with extraordinary detail and depth of relief. The piece retains ample original brilliance in the fields, especially visible around the portraits and in the open areas of the reverse, with light surface marks and tiny contact lines typical of a coin that has seen minimal circulation. It is one of the most emblematic commemorative issues of the German Empire, minted to celebrate two centuries of history of the Prussian monarchy and the dynastic continuity represented by Wilhelm II.
