Square steatite stamp seal from the Indus Valley (Harappan) Civilization, c. 2600–1900 BCE. It shows a classic Indus Valley animal in profile facing left, with a ritual stand or manger in front of it. A short line of undeciphered Indus script runs across the top. These seals were used for stamping clay in trade and administration; the unicorn is the most common motif on them. The seal was inherited from the father of the previous owner. His father’s collection was formed in the 1980s by Z.K. The information received is that the seal was examined by experts in the Indus Valley civilisation archeological artefacts. You will receive a lifetime guarantee of authenticity from our store with information about the item and provenance. Measurements: 2.4x2.5x0.6cm.
