Italian contemporary artist, founder of the artistic research BEHIND THE CANVAS – The Architecture of Inversion, a language that subverts the traditional concept of painting by transforming the back of the canvas into the main space of the work. His research explores the relationship between visible and invisible, matter and light, structure and surface, through an execution process developed on the rear side of the canvas.

His works have been presented in national and international exhibitions and his research has been included in the CAM Mondadori 61 Modern Art Catalog (2026).

• Description of the work

Created in 2022, the Contemporary Venus by Carchesio represents a sophisticated investigation into the archetypal concept of beauty, love and fertility, reinterpreted through a modern and existential lens. The work enters a figurative thread that openly dialogues with the history of classical art, while maintaining the artist’s stylistic identity and chromatic sensibility. The composition departs from the chaste aesthetics of the past to embrace a realistic, concrete and tangible beauty, defined by the almost sculptural softness of the forms and the magnetic particularity of the gaze.

Conceptually, the work is configured as a visual manifesto of sensuality, rebirth and resilience of the female figure of the 21st century. The figure depicted is a conscious, self-determined woman capable of protecting herself from the adversities of the world and emerging with renewed independence and strength.
