Description from the seller
David Marshall – Large 1970s Brutalist Brass & Aluminium Quartz Clock
Exceptional 1970s Brutalist table clock by David Marshall, handmade in Spain from heavy brass and aluminium. The imposing square case has Marshall’s characteristic rough, organic cast texture, contrasting with the clean geometric circular dial.
The bold black hands, red seconds hand and cross-divided dial give the clock a distinctly Brutalist / Space Age appearance. A substantial sculptural object as much as a functional timepiece.
The original movement has been replaced with a renewed quartz mechanism, making the clock ready for everyday use.
Period: 1970s (approximately 50 years old)
Designer: David Marshall
Origin: Spain
Material: Brass and aluminium
Movement: Renewed quartz movement
Weight: approx. 3.25 kg
Dimensions: approx. 18.5 × 18.5 × 6 cm
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with characteristic casting marks, patina and signs of age. Please see photographs. Professionally polished and waxed.
A rare and highly collectible example of David Marshall’s Spanish Brutalist metalwork — heavy, tactile and unmistakably sculptural.
