Offered: an impressive and historically valuable color lithograph titled "Feldwache" (Field Post) from 1918, by the renowned German artist and illustrator Eugen Osswald (1879–1960). This rare work comes from his acclaimed portfolio '20 farbige Steinzeichnungen aus dem Feld', in which he masterfully captured the raw reality and atmosphere of World War I.
The lithograph shows a German soldier wearing the iconic Pickelhaube seen from the back as he keeps watch at a parapet. The composition excels in atmosphere, use of color, and historical depth.
