Empatia stems from the fusion of the great tradition of blown glass and Artemide's LED technology.
The strong interest in the expressive potential of the material led to collaborating with master glassmakers, to gain full control of the glass's particular plasticity and to work on the balance between surface and light, between subtle densities and transparencies.

The result is clear, pure objects, which artisanal craftsmanship makes, in effect, unique pieces. Transparency and opacity are skillfully balanced to produce a glass that reflects and diffuses light without glare, without sacrificing efficiency. The result is an optical engine that has its heart in a high-performance LED light engine, which is separated from the glass emissive body to favor thermal and performance efficiency.
The light is controlled for maximum efficiency and guided to the glass diffuser through a transparent light pipe with an extremely low absorbance coefficient. The glass features small dots, unusual for blown glass.
