Description from the seller

No reserve price

Pair of decorative decanters (ewer) in Neoclassical style, made in Italy in the mid-20th century. These pieces magnificently fuse the brilliance of transparent glass with the warmth of the mounts in gilded/bronze metal, creating a work of art with striking visual impact.
Main Features:
Design: The jugs feature a mouth-blown, stamped clear glass body, decorated with complex diamond-cut motifs and vertical ribs at the top, which capture and refract light in a splendid way.
Mounting: The circular base, neck, and the elegant volute-shaped handle are made of cast metal (likely bronze or gilded brass). The base and neck are enriched with meticulous embossing details and foliate motifs. The handle is particularly elaborate and ends with an embossed zoomorphic detail (perhaps a stylized duck or swan head) where it meets the spout.
Markings: On both lower sides of the metal bases there is a clearly visible punch inscription: "DISTILLERIE - BUTON", with a heraldic crest in the center and below "BOLOGNA - ITALIA", "CASA FONDATA NEL 1820". Further down it reads "ARGENTERIE SILVER BOLOGNA". This indicates that these jugs were probably display pieces or luxury gifts associated with the famous Italian distillery Buton, known for its Vecchia Romagna, and made by a Bologna-based silver workshop.
Conditions: Both pieces are in excellent vintage condition; one stopper is missing. The glass is intact, with no chips or visible cracks. The gilding shows a beautiful vintage patina consistent with the age, with only slight signs of oxidation or superficial wear, as shown in the detailed photos, which do not compromise the overall aesthetics.
Use: Although born as decorative objects (claret jugs or style ewers), they will add a touch of sophisticated elegance to any buffet, display cabinet, or vintage bar.
Dimensions (each):
Height: 32 cm
Width (maximum at handle): 14 cm
Depth (base diameter): 8 cm
Please carefully examine all provided photographs, which are an integral part of the description, to assess conditions and details.
A classy addition for collectors of Italian vintage housewares, lovers of Neoclassical design, and enthusiasts of the history of great Italian companies.
Shipping Note:
The item will be carefully packed and shipped with tracking
