A particularly beautiful vintage IWC Automatic from around 1952, equipped with the high-quality IWC in-house caliber 852. This automatic caliber belongs to the early generation of IWC watches with the Pellaton winding system developed by Albert Pellaton, making it an interesting chapter in the history of automatic watches from International Watch Co. Schaffhausen.

The watch features a stunning classic look with a stainless steel monocoque case of 35 mm, elegant lugs, and a light dial with applied hour markers and distinctive dauphine hands.

Over the years, the dial has developed a pronounced natural patina and fine cracking. It is precisely this visible aging that gives the watch a lot of personality and a warm, authentic vintage appearance that perfectly matches the character and age of this piece.

Condition:

The watch is in beautiful and characterful vintage condition with signs of use appropriate for its age. The stainless steel monocoque case shows visible scratches and normal wear. The handsome case shape and elegant lugs remain nicely recognizable.

The dial is a key part of the charm of this example. Over the years it has developed a pronounced natural patina, with fine cracking and sporadic signs of aging that are especially visible toward the outer edge. This natural aging gives the dial a particularly attractive, warm, and almost painterly look. In combination with the applied hour markers and classic dauphine hands, it forms a beautiful vintage whole with lots of character and personality.

The automatic IWC Cal. 852 movement runs as it should and has a good power reserve. The service history is unknown. No warranty is given on water resistance, as the watch has not been tested for it.
