Bench - neoclassical - Wood - 18th/19th century.

Given the age, there is some damage visible. It has therefore been restored as far as possible. The gesso (white lime layer) that was applied to the wood before the gilding took place is still visible in some areas. This is also evidence that this is not a copy. There is also some wear on the handles. The damask fabric is clean, as are the decorative trims. This suggests that the bench has been reupholstered, perhaps around 1950, because the decorative trims were hardly available after that time. The upholsterers' nails were covered with it.
