Antique Blue and White Porcelain Dish – Hand-Painted Floral Decoration – Incised Mark
An attractive antique blue and white porcelain dish, decorated by hand in underglaze blue.
The centre features a large stylised floral or foliate motif executed with energetic freehand brushwork, surrounded by fine sweeping blue lines and a geometric border around the rim. A smaller stylised motif appears beneath the main decoration.
The dish has a slightly irregular, hand-formed shape, adding considerable character and reflecting traditional manufacture.
The reverse is partially decorated in underglaze blue and has an unglazed foot rim. An incised/ impressed numerical or workshop mark can also be seen on the underside; it has been photographed in detail.
