Christofle is a French silversmithing and tableware company, founded in Paris in 1830 by Charles Christofle.
The company is known for having introduced electroplating (gilding and silver-plating) in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the Chalhoub family luxury group.
La Maison Christofle uses manufacturing that is entirely handcrafted following traditional techniques. The precious crafts of turning-repoussage, planishing, chasing, engraving, which are continued by its Master Goldsmiths and Best Craftsmen of France, immortalize the qualities of elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces.
