Description from the seller
Rare Papal Silver Medal of Pope Francis in the Xth Year of Pontificate
Below are all the details:
issued by the Vatican, it is the very rare last medal minted under Pope Francis’ Pontificate, in a run of only 30 pieces (the one offered here is number 07) - This is a silver medal from a triptych that was minted in just 30 pieces, much rarer than the common silver medals whose edition is 1500 pieces.
Obverse:
at the center the Holy Father’s coat of arms, surrounded by the inscription «franciscus pont. maximus anno x», below a scene of an elderly person being assisted by a younger person in an act of love toward the neighbor.
Edge:
the inscription «e civitate vaticana» and the medal number, laser-engraved
Reverse:
in the foreground a scene of mutual listening, while in the background, on a dry ground, life germinates along the road to the Church.
Respectively at the top and bottom, the inscriptions «iter synodale auscultans est ecclesia» and «A.D. MMXXII».
The medal is the work of Amalia Mistichelli.
Each medal is individually laser-numbered on the edge and bears the punch to certify the silver content (986 fineness) at the bottom left.
Struck by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato in Rome
Metal: silver 986/1000
Weight: 40 grams
Diameter: 44 millimeters
Together with the medal are included in the lot two official small devotional images of Pope Francis, measuring 120 x 80 millimeters, with the Pope’s signature reproduced at the bottom and the papal heraldic emblem in color on the back.
The box and the small sheet with the medal specifications are not present as they were damaged and lost.
The medal is in pristine condition, having been carefully kept in a velvet-lined box before being offered for sale.
