THE ICON OF ITALIAN SPACE AGE IN A COMPLETE SET OF 6
Splendid and elegant lot consisting of 6 chairs model "4875", created by the genius architect Carlo Bartoli and produced by Kartell starting in 1974. This chair is not just a piece of furniture but a milestone in the history of industrial design: in fact it was the first chair in the world to be polypropylene molded in a single block for shell and backrest. A revolutionary technological innovation for which it earned a nomination for the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award in 1979 and exposure in the MoMA New York and Centre Pompidou Paris permanent collections.
TECHNICAL DETAILS AND COMMERCIAL PLUS
The set is presented in glossy black, one of the most sought-after and elegant colors, capable of integrating perfectly into both vintage-styled spaces and contemporary minimalist interiors. Bartoli's design offers exceptional stability and structural solidity thanks to the 4 circular-section legs removable (press-fit onto conical pins under the shell). The chairs are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
A collectible detail of absolute value: under the legs are still present and perfectly preserved all the original white anti-slip pads from the era, a rare element to find intact in such a large set.
Under each single seat is embossed the original authenticity mark: "Kartell 4875 - Designer: CARLO BARTOLI - MADE IN ITALY".
DETAILED AESTHETIC CONDITIONS (CONSERVATIVE RESTORATION)
The chairs are structurally perfect, solid, sound and free of cracks, breaks or missing parts. To preserve absolute authenticity and the historical patina of the lot, it was decided to avoid invasive restorations or chemical repainting. The chairs have been carefully sanitized and subjected to a natural protective treatment with vaseline oil, ideal for hydrating vintage polypropylene and restoring depth and luster to the black.
Being original vintage pieces, on the surface of the seat and backrest there are the classic and widespread micro-scratches from rubbing and slight opacities consistent with the age and use of the items, which testify to their history without compromising their splendid overall aesthetic impact. Please review the rich photo gallery carefully for a transparent assessment.
