AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Nice and original Saab 96 delivered new in the Netherlands in 1979. And with the original V4 (68 hp, 1.5 liter) engine, manual 4-speed gearbox, power steering, and with freewheel! In original marble white color (Saab code 152 G – marble white with a lot of presence! The original and highly sought Saab alloy wheels are, of course, huge eye-catchers.

Documents:
The car has Dutch registration. The car can be delivered, if desired (for an additional €50), with valid EU export papers, so that a potential foreign new owner can easily register the Saab in his/her country. Because of its age (47 years), the Saab is tax-exempt.

Body:
The car is in very nice condition, with some improvements made over the years. The underside of the body is fairly neat, but not perfect. The paint is above average; a spot to note is under the right door.

Technical:
Every Saab 96 has a four-speed gearbox with power steering, this one as well, and it works very nicely. A particular detail of this quirky Saab is that you have to shift into reverse to remove the ignition key. The brake-fluid light stays on, although there is plenty of brake fluid. The radio has not been tested.
The V4 engine runs nicely, starts smoothly, and of course has a distinctive sound. A nice detail is that the Saab still has the original V4 engine, which at the time was purchased from Ford. You can still see some original Ford logos on a few details. Very special, and completely original! The automatic freewheel works fine, can be turned on and off from inside as desired. This is an original feature dating from the era of the two-stroke Saab engines and was never removed by the quirky SAAB. All in all, a very special car that drives nicely, starts well, shifts, steers and brakes well. The seller has many contacts domestically and abroad and can help you, if needed, to find NOS and used parts, currently not necessary.

Interior:
The interior is very tidy, with only small imperfections. Also the backrest of the rear seat is fine; normally this backrest is often sun-bleached, because the curved rear window acts like a kind of heat- or sun-glass on the backrest. The mats and the headlining are very nice, just like the rest of the interior.

PICKUP:
The car is located in Hengevelde, Netherlands and can, of course, be picked up here or delivered at extra cost.

OTHER INFORMATION:
The car can be delivered to the entire European Union (possibly worldwide) at relatively low cost by a professional carrier.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
