Description from the seller
Gorgeous Moroccan Koummya Dagger – Berber / Amazigh Culture
This traditional Koummya (also called Khoumija) is the iconic curved dagger of the Berbers (Amazigh) from Morocco, specifically originating from the High Atlas and the Souss valley.
Tradition & Symbolism
Within Amazigh culture, the Koummya is far more than a weapon; it is a symbol of masculinity, honor, and protection against evil (Baraka). Male clan members traditionally wore the dagger slung over the shoulder or around the waist during important ceremonies, weddings, and celebrations. The wavy blade design and the distinctive peacock tail on the knob of the grip refer to regional artisanal traditions and protective motifs.
