Description from the seller

GENERAL
The Peugeot 204 is a historic model fundamental to the French firm, produced between 1965 and 1976. Designed by Pininfarina, it was a revolutionary vehicle for its time, adopting a front-wheel-drive layout with a transverse-mounted lightweight alloy engine, something very advanced for the mid-60s standards. This particular unit is a 1973 Peugeot 204 with 106,000 kilometers on the odometer. It is an exceedingly unusual specimen and of great value to Spanish collectors, as it is one of the few Peugeot 204s that were imported and originally sold in Spain during the 1970s, a period when high import duties made seeing these cars on Spanish roads a real privilege. The car has spent its entire life in Spain, safeguarded in the dry climate of the autonomous community of Castile and León, which has greatly favored its preservation over the decades. As a highly exclusive distinctive element of the era, this vehicle comes factory-equipped with the original sliding roof.

BODYWORK AND PAINT
The bodywork is in strictly original condition. It has not undergone any restoration process, but it is very well preserved. The paint on most of the body panels appears to be factory-original, so it shows no modern repaints, although over time it would notably benefit from a full polishing job to restore its shine. Thanks to having always remained in Castile and León’s dry environment, the structure has been protected from extreme humidity.

MECHANICAL
In mechanical terms, the car is equipped with the characteristic drivetrain configuration of the 204 series. However, the vehicle has been out of circulation for several years and has not been on the road. Due to this period of inactivity, the car will require a complete mechanical inspection and a thorough tune-up of all components and fluids before safely returning to operation.

INTERIOR
The interiors are in good original condition, preserving the upholstery and trim as they came from the factory. The cabin shows some signs of wear that are completely normal and understandable given the vehicle’s use and age, but it retains all its authenticity and the essence of Peugeot models from the 1970s, including the operable sunroof mechanism.

COLLECTION
The vehicle is available for inspection and pickup in Pozuelo de Alarcón, located in the Community of Madrid, Spain. The buyer will be responsible for arranging logistics and transportation from this pickup location."} }

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
