Audio-Tech­nica - ATH-2 Open-Back Supra-Aural Orthodynamic Headphone

The Audio Technica ATH-2 are orthodynamic headphones or open-back planar magnetic headphones, first produced in the 1970s.
These are among the few well-made open-back orthodynamic headphones.
What’s surprising about the ATH-2 is that they are very sensitive, so it’s easy to turn up the volume, which makes them a great option for portable listening, something I have personally done, and so far I haven’t heard better portable headphones.

The highs are perhaps one of the distinctive traits of the orthodynamic principle. The drivers are much faster than typical dynamic headphones, so the highs are much smoother than the majority of dynamic headphones I’ve listened to, and the detail is abundant.
