The complete oeuvre of the late Gothic master Bouts

The paintings of Dieric Bouts are masterpieces of late Gothic Dutch painting of the Flemish Primitives. Bouts was of Dutch origin, but he worked as a painter in Leuven. Bouts was a prosperous citizen of Leuven and a renowned and esteemed artist, who had contacts with Leuven’s university circles and was entrusted by the city magistrate with important official commissions. On behalf of the Leuven city authorities he painted The Justice of Emperor Otto, as well as a now-missing Last Judgment. For the Saint Peter’s Church in Leuven he painted, before 1464, the triptych of the Last Supper.
