Item Description
Offered here is a substantial collection of 88 vintage Japanese banknotes spanning the late Taisho to early Showa periods. The lot includes a wide range of denominations and design types that reflect the evolution of Japanese currency through the early-to-mid 20th century.

Among the notes are 5 sen notes with a plum blossom motif, 10 sen notes featuring a dove design, 50 sen notes bearing a portrait design along with a Mount Fuji variant, and numerous 1 yen notes issued by the Bank of Japan featuring the "Ninigi" style portrait design. The collection also contains 5 yen notes with a Sugawara-style portrait and a shrine/torii design, 10 yen notes depicting the National Diet Building, and 10 yen notes featuring a historical portrait design. Additionally, the lot includes 1 yen notes bearing a portrait believed to represent Takenouchi no Sukune, as well as a group of Japanese military scrip notes ("Nippon Ginko - One Yen in Silver") issued for use in occupied territories.

This is a large mixed lot suited to collectors of Japanese numismatic history, offering good variety across denominations, printing series, and design motifs in a single acquisition.

Condition
The notes show general wear consistent with genuine circulation and age, including some toning, minor soiling, and light creasing on individual pieces.
