Description from the seller
Antique Chinese rug – Aubusson floral style – 1950s–1960s – 257 × 164 cm
We present an elegant antique Chinese rug, made between 1950 and 1960, featuring a refined floral design inspired by Aubusson.
The rug is crafted using an ancient manual tufting technique, where wool tufts are worked by hand onto a cotton base. On the back, the structure is stabilized with a traditional fixing compound that keeps the tufts in place, and finally protected by a textile lining.
The pile is hand-cut and finished, creating the beautiful relief typical of this type of rug. It features a very elegant decoration, with a large central floral medallion and numerous floral and leafy motifs, blended in soft tones of green, beige, pink, and brown.
Origin: China
Period: 1950–1960
Measurements: 257 × 164 cm
Material: wool on cotton base
Technique: manual tufting
Design: Aubusson floral
The rug is in very good condition considering its age. The pile is well preserved and there are no breaks or significant wear.
The protective lining on the back shows stains and signs of aging, clearly visible in the photographs. For this reason, we recommend a professional cleaning.
A beautiful antique Chinese rug, with a strong decorative presence, featuring attractive relief work and an elegant color combination.
