Elegant pair of cane-seat chairs in Louis XV style, probably made in France in the mid-20th century, around 1940–1960.
The chairs have a solid wood frame, likely stained and varnished beech, offering a warm honey-toned color.
Their silhouette recalls the defining codes of Louis XV furniture: curved lines, ornate backrest, slightly curved legs and carved decoration inspired by vegetal and Rocaille motifs.
The backrest as well as the seat are made with natural cane in rattan, bringing a lot of lightness and elegance to the piece.
The caning work is particularly decorative and harmonizes with the curves of the wood.
The front rail is embellished with a pretty central carved motif, while the front feet also feature decorative work that reinforces the refined character of this pair.
