Magnificent pair of French seats in Napoleon III style, probably produced during the second half of the 19th century, circa 1860–1880.
These two chairs feature an elegant solid wood moulded and carved structure, probably walnut, with a very beautiful rounded and dynamic backrest ending in delicate volutes. Their curved silhouette recalls the historicist aesthetic especially appreciated under the Second Empire, with a clear influence of Louis XV furniture.
The front feet are nicely curved and still equipped with small castors, a detail particularly charming and characteristic of 19th-century living-room furniture.
The seat and back are fully upholstered in a superb raspberry red velvety fabric, presenting a discreet geometric pattern tone-on-tone.
The whole is accentuated by an elegant trim of golden/ochre passementerie, creating a nice contrast with the dark wood tone.
The back is also fully upholstered, allowing these seats to be placed freely in the center of a room.
A decorative pair with a very strong character, ideal in a classical Napoleon III interior, maximalist, or in contemporary decor seeking a bold antique piece.
Dimensions per seat: 95 × 50 × 45 cm.
