A vintage blue wooden chaise longue from Germany, dating to 1850–1900, upholstered in blue brocade with gold threads and professionally reupholstered in 2002 with horsehair and spring core, measuring 200 cm wide, 95 cm deep, 69 cm high with a 42 cm seating height, in good used condition with minor signs of wear and provenance indicating Frankfurt/Main origin.
Description from the seller
Chaiselongue, professionally reupholstered to original quality in 2002 with horsehair, spring core, cotton… Brocade upholstery in blue with gold threads woven through.
Vintage look, distressed, white lacquer, oiled
The cover shows signs of wear and small stains.
Very comfortable and the perfect place to read.
This piece has a history. In the 1990s my grandfather handed me this chaise longue, saying that he had perhaps received it 20 years earlier from a former client and that it was at least 100 years old. He, my grandfather (master interior decorator), had wanted to restore it for his wife, but at over 80 years old he handed it down to me. After another 10–12 years it stood in dry storage, then I managed to recruit a specialist from the Erfurt area to restore the upholstery faithfully to the original. It is a labor of the heart, but since I am moving to a distant country, I cannot take it with me!
Pickup in Berlin/Weißensee. The best packaging is a blanket; I can certainly provide a blanket for transport. In general, two people are recommended for transport, as it is unwieldy and on the first floor with a high parterre. I’m happy to help, but a strong person should be present!
