Description from the seller
Silver beaker - 800 silver - Art Deco - Belgium (probably) - ca. 1925–1950
Elegant handcrafted 800 silver beaker, most probably made in Belgium during the Art Deco period, dating from approximately 1925–1950.
The beaker features a refined, slightly tapering shape enhanced by a series of finely engraved horizontal bands below the rim. Its clean geometric lines and understated decoration perfectly reflect the timeless elegance of the Art Deco movement, making it both a functional table accessory and a decorative collector's object.
Originally intended for serving wine, water or other beverages, this type of silver cup was often used at formal dinners and special occasions. Today it is equally appreciated as an elegant display piece or as part of a collection of antique European silver.
The underside is struck with the 800 silver fineness mark together with the maker's mark "O D" separated by a stylised fork or trident, attributed to an unidentified European silversmith.
The beaker has no engraved initials or dedication, which enhances its decorative appeal.
Measurements
Height: approx. 7.5 cm
Diameter (top): approx. 6.5 cm
Foot diameter: approx. 4.3 cm
Weight: approx. 70 g
Condition
Very good antique condition with only light surface wear and fine scratches consistent with age and careful use. No dents, repairs or engravings. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description. There appears to be a yellow cast on the cup, but that is due to the way the light hits it in the photo.
