Description from the seller
Mercedes-Benz 380 SL
GENERAL
Since its debut in 1971, the R107 series has left a lasting impression in the world of luxury cars. As the successor to the legendary Pagoda, this model set a new standard in terms of comfort, performance and safety. With its timeless lines, solid build quality and distinctive look, the R107 grew into one of the most beloved classic roadsters in the world.
This 1985 Mercedes 380 SL – now 40 years old – is a beautiful example of this iconic series. The car is delivered including all original booklets and a Carfax report (in 2001 a small collision is noted in the report).
BODYWORK & PAINT
This is an Arizona-import and the bodywork is completely rust-free. The underbody is in exceptionally neat and completely dry condition, as visible in the photos. The paint presents itself very neatly.
The car is delivered with both a hardtop and a well-functioning soft-top, making it usable in every season.
INTERIOR
The interior is well-kept and in neat condition. The dashboard has a new cover. The car is equipped with a luxury Bluetooth large-screen radio and is supplied with the original onboard tools, which contributes to the authentic character.
TECHNICAL
Technically, a lot has been renewed. In the USA for $7,250, invoices for inspection in 2025.
Also, the Mercedes has just been equipped with a new double timing chain set with tensioners.
The car starts, runs and shifts well. Under the hood and in the trunk the car gives a very well-kept impression.
DOCUMENTS
All import and VAT costs have been paid. The car is offered with an American title. This means the car is currently not road-registered and not yet ready for use on public roads.
Because of its age, no COC document is required for registration within Europe (this only applies from 1996).
PICK-UP
The car can be viewed and possibly collected in Damwoude, Netherlands. Transport across Europe can be arranged on request.
OTHER INFORMATION
We strive to describe our cars as honestly and accurately as possible. However, it remains a used classic, so there may always be signs of wear or points of attention. If in doubt, we advise visiting the car in person to get a proper impression.
A stylish and timeless Mercedes roadster with potential, ready for a new enthusiast.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
