Pair of carved and gilded wooden Baroque mirrors (old reliquary) – 18th century
Important pair of mirrors (75 cm) decorative, carved, pierced and gilded wood, Baroque style, probably Italian, 18th century.
The composition, particularly rich, features a symmetrical decoration of broad scrolls, acanthus leaves and volutes, topped by an imposing open carved crown. Each mirror is composed of three oval glass panes of different dimensions, integrated into the pierced frame.
The lower part rests on a painted and gilded architectural base, adorned with stylized motifs. The back clearly reveals the old wooden construction as well as the mirror fastenings.
Condition: good overall for its age. Wear, small losses, cracks and retouching to the gilding and polychromy, clearly visible in the photographs. These traces contribute to the patina and the antique character of the piece.
