Silver Neogothic Holy Water Basin with Mary and Child – ca. 1900
Beautifully detailed and atmospheric silver (stamped) holy water basin (benitier) in the neogothic style, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century (ca. 1890-1930).
The wall-mounted basin depicts in refined relief the Holy Virgin Mary crowned, with the Child Jesus in her arms, placed within an elegant Gothic niche with pointed arch tracery and crowned with a small cross. The semicircular reservoir at the bottom is also gracefully decorated with stylized floral motifs. At the top there is a sturdy eye for easy wall mounting.
