Description from the seller

A pair of large five-light wall sconces with putti – Louis XV/Rococo style – gilded metal

Fine and richly executed pair of large decorative wall sconces/wall appliqués in the Louis XV/Rococo style.

Each wall sconce features a centrally placed putto, surrounded by extravagantly formed rocaille and acanthus motifs. From the richly decorated central section rise five gracefully curved arms, each ending in a shaped candle holder.

Particularly attractive is the asymmetric, lively design of the arms and leaf motifs. The two putti are depicted differently and hold a vertical staff/arm, so the sconces together are clearly designed as a pendant pair.

The sconces consist of several separately cast and mounted metal parts. On the back, the old fastenings, screws and mounting construction are visible. The gold-colored finish shows localized wear, discoloration and patina appropriate to age and use.

Material: heavy cast metal, gold-colored/gilded finish
Style: Louis XV / Rococo
Dating: presumably 19th century / early 20th century
Number of light points: 5 per wall sconce, total 10
Construction: not electrified; intended for candles

Dimensions per item:
Height: approx. 41 cm
Width: approx. 40 cm
Depth: approx. 28 cm
Weight: approx. 3.9 kg

Total weight pair: approx. 7.8 kg

The wall sconces are in a beautiful, authentically used condition with signs of age and use. Local gilding wear or darkening. See the close-up photos for construction, finish and condition.

A particularly decorative and imposing pair of wall sconces with lovely putti and pronounced Rococo styling. Offered exclusively as a complete pair.
