Antique Japy Frères Napoleon III mantel clock (c.1850–1900) in marble with gilt ornamentation, brass case and dial, 8-day mechanical movement with half-hour strike on a gong, key present, functional but balance wheel missing, French origin with the Grande Médaille d’Honneur – 1855 seal, in good used condition.

Magnificent antique Japy Frères clock – Napoleon III – 19th century
Magnificent old marble/black stone mantel clock, richly decorated with fine gold motifs and featuring an elegant black dial with Roman numerals.
It has an authentic Japy Frères & Cie movement, the famous French clockmaker from the 19th century. The mechanism bears the prestigious seal “Grande Médaille d’Honneur – Exposition de 1855,” testament to the quality and know-how of this great clockmaking house.
The clock is functional and comes with its winding key. The pendulum is missing and will need to be replaced.
Very beautiful decorative and collectible piece, particularly imposing and elegant, ideal for an antique interior, a fireplace, a curiosity cabinet, or a collection of French clockmaking.
