Antique South Asian Hand-Carved Hardwood Relief Panel (actual carving 17cm x 35cm)

Hand-carved hardwood relief panel from a chariot South Indian, dating from the late 19th century. The carving depicts a richly ornamented Krishna as an infant and female figure beneath a stylised mythical mask (kirtimukha), with decorative floral and architectural motifs.

Likely originally part of a ceremonial structure, architectural element, shrine, or temple/chariot decoration. Beautiful weathered patina with natural age-related wear, shrinkage cracks and minor losses consistent with age. Mounted in a later display frame.
