Decorative historical majolica plate by Villeroy & Boch, Schramberg works, from the late 19th century.
The extraordinary decoration shows three–dimensional green chestnut leaves on a yellow-gold textured ground with small pink flowers. Especially striking is the elaborately designed edge with a relief braided or basket-weave pattern in brown and ochre tones.
On the underside there is a circular impressed maker's mark, the form/model number 281, and another small impressed mark.

Condition:
Very well preserved for its age. No chips present. The strong colours, glaze and the raised relief are well preserved. No obvious hairline cracks are visible. Only minor age- or manufacturing-related irregularities and light signs of use are present.
