In this work with suggestive geometric rigor and metaphysical inflections, Vittorio Altieri stages a fairy-tale landscape suspended in time. The vertical composition is dominated by a deep, dense night sky, upon which a large white full moon stands out, carved by the essential outline of birds in flight.
At the center of the work rises a village with clean, essential lines, composed of white and gray architectural volumes with contrasting roofs in shades of blue and red. The structures rest on a monumental white-arched bridge, at whose feet lies a sheet of water that captures and reflects the colors of the vegetation. The natural elements — hills and trees stylized with conical and rounded shapes — create a lively chromatic counterpoint with patches of bright green, golden ochre, and violet.
Human presence is evoked through dark, schematic silhouettes: a solitary figure crosses the central walkway, while two silhouettes sit side by side on a bench, immersed in the night’s quiet. Signed by the artist in the bottom right, the painting expresses a perfect harmony between form and color, transforming the landscape into an atmosphere of enchantment and silent contemplation.
