A distinctive pair of Japanese cinema posters bringing together two Nikkatsu yakuza films released on 13 January 1968 and presented as a double feature. Their complementary compositions, bold red Japanese lettering and striking portraits create a visually cohesive set. Offered together, the two oversized STB / tatekan posters provide an appealing snapshot of Nikkatsu’s late-1960s gangster cinema and a compelling addition to a collection of Japanese film memorabilia. 1. Yūkyō Sangokushi: Tekka no Hanamichi 遊侠三国志 鉄火の花道 Directed by Akinori Matsuo. Starring Yūjirō Ishihara, Akira Kobayashi, Hideki Takahashi and Ruriko Asaoka. A Nikkatsu gangster drama bringing together three of the studio’s major male stars. Its poster combines dramatic portraits, traditional clothing and sword imagery against a vivid red and dark background, giving the design a bold and immediately recognisable presence. 2. Outlaw: Gangster VIP 「無頼」より 大幹部 Directed by Toshio Masuda. Starring Tetsuya Watari and Chieko Matsubara. The first film in Nikkatsu’s Outlaw series, inspired by the writings of former gangster Goro Fujita. Its striking composition features Tetsuya Watari alongside portraits and action scenes from the film, creating a dynamic counterpart to the companion poster.
