Charles Horner - Thimble Edwardian - Chester 1911 - Silver

An Edwardian sterling silver thimble by Charles Horner, assayed at Chester in 1911.

Charles Horner was one of the leading British silversmiths of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly celebrated for his silver jewellery and finely made thimbles.

The thimble is finely worked with a traditional honeycomb-patterned upper section above an engraved band of stylised flowers and foliage. The lower rim bears a clear set of British hallmarks, including the maker’s mark for Charles Horner, the Chester assay mark and date letter for 1911.

Marked size 6. Presented with a period fitted thimble case with purple velvet lining.

The thimble is in good antique condition, with light surface wear consistent with age. The case shows expected wear and ageing.
