In Derivas, Ella Suárez develops an inquiry into landscape understood as an expanded field, where forms are not fixed but move, transform, and continually reconfigure themselves.

The works are situated in an intermediate territory between the recognizable and the abstract. Through undulating structures and transitional planes, they evoke reliefs, horizons, and geographical features that do not belong to a specific place, but to an experience of a landscape in constant change.

The concept of extended landscape runs through the series as a way of thinking the surroundings beyond its physical limits. Space expands, the horizon decomposes, and depth is constructed through layers that fold, open, and overlap. In this context, the relief ceases to be stable and becomes a living matter, subject to mutational processes.

Color acts as both structure and energy. The palettes are organized into transitions that create tension and continuity, articulating a visual rhythm that suggests displacement, atmosphere, and time. Each plane follows an internal logic that balances density and fluidity, building a landscape that is never presented as definitive.

In Derivas, landscape stops being an image and becomes a process: a mode of perception in which matter, color, and time are in a state of permanent transformation.
